Without your support ... all work and no PLAY

The Mountain Play's mission is to produce an annual, spectacular, outdoor theatrical experience that nurtures an appreciation of Mt. Tamalpais, involves and strengthens the community, and builds on decades of tradition. This unique community tradition will succeed and prosper with the generous financial support from individual, corporate and foundation partners.

Almost 40% of income comes from contributed income through tax-deductible contributions from our loyal supporters and community partners. For decades, generous local businesses and individuals throughout the community have made the Mountain Play's success possible.

There are many ways to make the Mountain Play a living legend:

Individual Support

Hundreds of individuals, couples and families choose to support the Mountain Play's Annual Fund at every level. From the sizable gifts from a handful of able donors to smaller yearly contributions from those who know how much every penny counts, the Mountain Play relies on the generous support of our patrons. Donors supporting our annual fund not only keep our organization thriving, but enjoy donor benefits, including special pre-view events, behind the scenes tours and inclusion in our production program, not to mention the gratitude of the hundreds who work to make the Mountain Play happen and the tens of thousands who attend the show.

Corporate and Foundation Giving

For decades, the Mountain Play has partnered with community businesses and foundations to help fund our major programs. Our free bio-diesel shuttle service, Outreach programs, disabled services and First-Aid care are all supported by corporations and foundations committed to this community. In addition to promoting visibility and brand awareness, corporate sponsorship is an excellent way to demonstrate your organization's commitment to supporting the arts, education, and community involvement.

Employer Matched Giving

Many businesses offer to match the gift of their employees. Our matching funds program grows each year and more as more employees and volunteers ask their employer to not only match a monetary gift, but volunteer hours as well. Currently Bank of America, Clorox, Gap Inc., Hewlett Foundation, IBM Corp., John Wiley & Sons and Levi Strauss & Co. all generously support the Mountain Play with matching funds.

Estate Planning

Our Marilyn B. Smith Centennial Circle, named after our legendary former Executive Director, recognizes generous donors who are participating in the Mountain Play's future in a very meaningful way. By designating the Mountain Play as a beneficiary of your Estate though a bequest or other type of planned gift such as a trust or annuity, you will be supporting the Theater for generations to come. Legacy Circle members' future promised gifts to the Mountain Play's Endowment will help to strengthen the organization's foundations and secure its financial health so that audiences may continue to enjoy thrilling theatrical experiences in our stunning setting. Our goal is to reach 100 estate commitments by our 100th Anniversary in 2013.

Reserved Seating

For 25 years, the Mountain Play has offered reserved seating to our patrons. While only 10% of our amphitheatre is used for reserved seats, our Fan Club Reserved Seating Program makes up nearly 25% of our ticket revenue. Each of our four levels of reserved seating has different benefits that accompany each package, including shade, parking, and lunch. At any level, reserved seating is an investment which helps sustain the continued excellence of the Mountain Play tradition.

Volunteering

There are more ways to give than writing a check. The Mountain Play counts on the efforts and enthusiasm of up to 70 volunteers per performance. Ushers, hike guides, disabled assistants and potty patrollers are all made up by dedicated Mountain Play volunteers, proudly sporting their volunteer t-shirts and enjoying the show free of charge. Generously donated time and help is also needed at special events and in the administrative office.
Volunteer for Guys & Dolls

The generous support from our family of donors and sponsors ensures the Mountain Play's ability to continue the tradition the community has created.
