The box office at the front gate opens at 8:00 am. The first bus from Mill Valley leaves between 9 and 9:15 am. You get up to the theatre easily in the morning because arrivals are spread out over the morning, but it takes longer for everyone to leave. Please do not bring your dog on the bus, or up to the mountain.
If you are first up on the bus you will receive a color coded ticket so you will be in the first groups to leave on the bus. If you come up on a later bus, you will have to wait for a later bus to leave. We have entertainment to make the wait easier. Consider taking the hike down to Mill Valley so you don't have to wait.
The musical isn't the only act at the Mountain Play. With puppet shows for kids and guest performances before the show, as well as musical entertainment while you wait to board the bus afterwards, we'll help keep you entertained all day long.
Free childrens' shows at the glen, performed by Randal Metz. Takes place on the day of each performance.

Hike down
For those athletic patrons who want to take the scenic route to or from the theatre, hiking is a beautiful option.
Most of our hikers choose to take the bus up to the theatre, and then hike down afterwards.
The hike down is an easier one since the Mountain Play transports ice chests and other bulky items to "The Depot" in Mill Valley where you can retrieve your gear and hop on a shuttle back to your parked car. The last of these shuttles from downtown Mill Valley to the parking lots leaves at 9:00pm - so you can enjoy dinner in charming downtown Mill Valley. If you miss the last shuttle for any reason, you can always take a taxi to the parking area.
While easier than the hike up to the theatre, it is still 7 miles and will take 2-2 1/2 hours. Please wear appropriate clothing and bring plenty of water.
